School Libraries Development Project
School libraries are important part of education system. It is found that there is lack of good, children’s books, scarcity of resources, lack of welcoming environment, sufficient funding, and support of modern furniture, lack of librarians in some libraries. After the project, Myanmar Library Association can develop and rebuild the school library culture with the support of the Basic Education Department.
MLA made regular productive meetings with schools, parents, project developer universities librarians as well as with new forms of dialogue and collaborations:
Discussion with Township Education Officers (Zoom platform)
3-day workshop discussions with library teachers and principals (Face to Face)
Collaborating with Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
Collaborating with Community organizations
Collaborating with partner organizations
University Librarians and Public Librarians
Purpose
To develop reading habit among young people, to improve reading skills
To rebuild school library culture and to find information regarding education
To transform school libraries as a place to study which can distribute not only school curriculums but also all kinds of things
To make well circulated school libraries sustainable long-term
